Oscar (played by James Franco) is a circus magician who only has minor skills, but accidentally gets swept away by a tornado from the dusty Kansas City to the magical and wonderful Land of Oz. The residents there believe he is the legendary great wizard who has descended from the sky, and they beg him to defeat the wicked witch to save the Land of Oz. However, the unscrupulous Oscar sees this situation as a golden opportunity to get rich. Three witches who claim to be the guardians of Oz, Theodora (played by Mila Kunis), Evanora (played by Rachel Weisz), and Glinda (played by Michelle Williams), each have their doubts about Oscar's identity. When dark forces close in, Oscar is forced into the conflict and realizes he must open his eyes to discern which of these beautiful witches is truly good or evil, friend or foe; otherwise, everything beautiful will turn to ashes. Oscar decides to take a gamble and confront the wicked witch, but how can his magic tricks compete against the witches' powerful and evil magic? What will become of the future of the Land of Oz?
