This film continues from the content of the first part, with Chen Zhen's younger brother named Chen Shan. The opening features a funeral scene accompanied by Huqin and ban drums, creating an atmosphere that feels like it will lead to singing. The movie vividly portrays the sly and ruthless nature of the Japanese, the brave and fearless patriotic spirit of Chen Shan, the psychological speculations of the French Concession detectives, and the humiliation faced by the characters from Jingwumen. The fighting at the end is noticeably less intense, and it's truly regrettable that there aren't any精彩 (exciting) scenes with nunchakus. Luo Lie also performed a non-bloody seppuku scene at the end. The conclusion is both beautiful and tragic.
