In 1960, due to natural disasters, three thousand orphans from the south were sent to the Inner Mongolian grasslands, where they were adopted by selfless Mongolian foster parents. The older brother, Chaolu, the younger sister, Tonggalaga, and their peers, Bi Ruoshui and A Tenghua, each had different personalities—some were straightforward, some were shrewd, and some were gentle. After being adopted by different families, they each had different life destinies. After more than fifty years of life experiences, some became wealthy businessmen, some became government officials concerned about the grasslands, some practiced medicine with compassion, while others experienced the hardships of losing a stable job and finding a new one. Nevertheless, they all took root on the grasslands, living up to the nurturing of their foster parents and their own lives.
