The story tells of a group of college students, including Chunyu, who find themselves trapped in an inescapable game called "19 Layers." Chunyu, who has had a strained relationship with her father since childhood, gets caught up in the game. In the game, she meets Gao Xuan, who is smart and composed, Dou Dou, who is physically strong, and the quirky Yang Bawan. Together with her friends, they go through levels filled with shadow puppets in a "haunted building" and evade being chased by clay figures in a desolate village. Unfortunately, her friends fall into comas in real life due to failures in different stages of the game. Amidst numerous crises, Chunyu decides to uncover the reasons behind their entry into the game as well as the conspiracy behind it. As the game world intertwines with real life, everyone learns about love and respect, gains insights about the meaning of life through adversity, and reconciles with their parents and themselves in their own ways. In the end, these young people unravel the conspiracy behind the "19 Layers" game. Chunyu ultimately reconciles with her father and emerges from her past shadows. This drama is adapted from Cai Jun's novel "The 19th Layer of Hell."
