The protagonist of "Ruby Red" is Ruby Landry (played by Rachel Banham), who was born in the bayou of Louisiana and lovingly cared for by her grandmother Catherine (played by Judd). Her love with her high school boyfriend Paul Tate (played by Duke) blooms, filling Ruby with hope, but the mystery of her father and her mother's death lingers over her. When Paul's parents forbid him from seeing Ruby, family secrets gradually begin to emerge, and the death of her beloved grandmother Catherine leaves Ruby heartbroken. Ruby is forced to escape from the bayou to New Orleans, searching for her estranged father (played by Belos), one of the richest men in the city, while desperately holding on to the memories of Paul and their forbidden love.
