Directed by Greg Spottiswood, "All Rise" (formerly known as "Courthouse") tells the story of the lives of judges, assistant district attorneys, public defenders, bailiffs, clerks, police officers, and jurors in a Los Angeles courtroom. Wilson Bethel, known for playing Bullseye in "Marvel's Daredevil", plays a mischievous and successful deputy district attorney named Mark, whose close friend and colleague Lola has recently been appointed as a judge, causing a shift in their personal and professional relationship. Simone Cook, who portrays Misty Knight in "Marvel's Luke Cage", plays Lola, an independent, impressive, and occasionally impulsive deputy district attorney. After becoming a new judge, she tends to push boundaries and challenge the typical perception of judges. Marg Helgenberger, formerly a star of "CSI: Crime Scene Investigation", plays Judge Judith, a rare California judge who breaks the glass ceiling (the glass ceiling refers to the invisible barriers that prevent someone from being promoted due to their gender, identity, or other personal reasons). She supervises Lola's progress to becoming a judge, reigniting her passion for justice. J. Alex Brinson plays Luke, a generous and diligent court bailiff by day and law student by night, determined to become a lawyer. Jessica Camacho plays steadfast public defender Emily Lopez-Berarro, who will stop at nothing to prove her client's innocence. Lindsay Mendez plays Sara, a passionate, optimistic, and somewhat secretive court reporter and Emily's close friend, who also runs poker games in the courtroom circle, gaining lots of gossip and information. Ruthie Ann Miles plays Sherri, Lola's judicial assistant, responsible for paperwork such as schedules and witness lists.
