 Synopsis
Romeo (played by Leonardo DiCaprio) and Juliet (played by Claire Danes) fell in love at first sight at a party celebrating Juliet's engagement to her ideal husband. However, their families are bitter enemies, frequently in conflict. Romeo sneaks into Juliet's backyard, and they confess their love to each other, aware that their family's feud is an obstacle. With the help of a priest, they secretly marry. Juliet's hot-headed cousin Tybalt wants to duel with Romeo, but Romeo only seeks peace. Romeo's friend Mercutio wants to kill Tybalt but is killed by him first, which drives Romeo to kill Tybalt in anger. Romeo is then banished, and Juliet is forced to marry another man. The priest devises a plan for Juliet to fake her death, but Romeo, not receiving the letter, believes she is truly dead and drinks poison just as Juliet awakens...
