In June Tokyo, the relentless plum rain causes turmoil in people's hearts and stirs up desires. A married woman named Rinko (Asuka Kurozawa) works at a psychological counseling room and lives a comfortable life with her husband (Yūji Kamizu). However, although they love each other, they have not had sexual relations due to her husband's obsessive cleanliness. The gentle and mild-mannered Rinko, feeling repressed, can only seek momentary satisfaction through masturbation. One day, a man named Dōrō (Shinya Tsukamoto) plagued by suicidal thoughts calls for help. Under Rinko's guidance, Dōrō gradually pulls himself out of the suicidal mire, but he becomes enamored with Rinko's gentleness. He blackmails her with photos of her masturbating, forcing this traditionally conservative woman to engage in acts that fill her with humiliation...This film is adapted from the novel of the same name by director Shinya Tsukamoto and won the Special Jury Prize at the 2002 Venice Film Festival, along with Best Actress (Asuka Kurozawa) and the Jury Prize at the 2003 Portugal International Fantasy Film Festival.
