Synopsis

In the late Qing Dynasty, Hong Kong was known for its 'Three Rings of Suppression' in Sheung Wan, Central, and Western Districts, where local officials secretly colluded with the notorious bully Gou Xinhu, creating a chaotic security situation. Officer Ma Rulong (Jackie Chan) was ordered to take over Western District, quickly arresting Gou Xinhu and earning the resentment of those operating the 'Three Rings of Suppression'. At that time, revolutionary fervor was sweeping the mainland, with revolutionaries coming to Hong Kong to spread their ideas and plan to rescue their captured comrades. In an effort to capture all the revolutionaries, the Qing court dispatched secret agents to contact the Three Rings of Suppression. After meeting revolutionaries like Bai Yinghong, Yingying, and Shanshan (played by Maggie Cheung, Rosamund Kwan, and Carina Lau), Ma Rulong became entangled in the struggle, while a group of strong yet dim-witted pirates were lurking, waiting to take revenge on him.
