Huang Huhdie (played by Siu-Mei Chao) is a disheartened screenwriter who, after several setbacks, has fallen to the level of discussing erotic films with her close friend A-Juan (played by Mao Shun-Jun). Her neighbor, Officer Lyu Qi (played by Leung Ka-Fai), has a crush on her, and after saving her in a heroic act, he unexpectedly gets a key to her house, but his uninvited arrival ends in embarrassment as he has to flee. After suffering a string of career setbacks, Huhdie decides to commit suicide by the river, but in her cowardice, she ultimately does not go through with it; instead, she inadvertently disturbs a pair of lovers engaged in an affair. The couple hastily escapes, leaving behind some personal belongings. To return the items to their owner, Huhdie and A-Juan visit, only to inadvertently get caught up in a bloody case of blackmail. Lucky to escape, Huhdie carelessly leaves a note signed 'Black Rose', while A-Juan leaves fingerprints that lead the police to suspect her. Consequently, the 'Black Rose' becomes a hot topic throughout the city, attracting the attention of its leader (played by Fung Bao-Bao) and her senior (played by Huang Yun-Shi), thus initiating a tangled competition in the realm of romance...
