Synopsis

Starring the three Xus and written by Xu Guanwen, this film has a simple plot. Xu Guanwen is the president of an entertainment magazine, and to save the magazine from going bankrupt, he goes to great lengths to uncover news. In the film, Xu remains the sarcastic boss, Xu Guanjie is still the witty and charming character, and Xu Guanying continues to be foolish yet pitiable. The film maintains a certain awareness of the times, using emerging phenomena such as celebrity gossip, cosmetic surgery, and karaoke to create much enjoyment. The directing style of Chen Xinjian is similar to that of the Xus, focusing mainly on the actors' performances as the core of the story. Although the film touches upon social issues, it lacks depth and fails to break through.
