Professor Philip (played by Robin Williams) is obsessed with his research, akin to an addict hooked on drugs, busy with his work day and night, even missing two of his wedding ceremonies because of it. Now, the bells for his third wedding are ringing at the door, but Philip has made a major breakthrough in his research, and unsurprisingly, he misses the wedding once again, leaving his fiancée Sarah (played by Marcia Gay Harden) waiting in the church, full of grievances. Philip looks at his new invention, which he calls the 'Flying Treasure' - a green gel-like substance that can defy gravity. Applying it to any object makes that object float. However, this substance has a mischievous characteristic that can play tricks on its users at any time. In an effort to win back his upset fiancée and save the school that is about to close, Professor Philip applies the Flying Treasure to the basketball shoes of the school's team, resulting in a massive victory for the team. However, this also attracts the greed of those with ulterior motives towards the Flying Treasure...
