During the Southern Song Dynasty, there was an inn operating at Shizipo in Mengzhou, run by the beautiful and skilled proprietress, Sun Erniang (played by Zhou Haimei), who was as strong as any man. Ten years ago, she came to Shizipo with her father, while her husband, Old Sun, was a gambling addict full of hatred for the betrayal of his wife, now only able to drown his sorrows in alcohol. One night, a man stealthily breaks into the inn; he is Zhang Qing (played by Mo Shaocong), a fugitive wanted by the authorities for accidentally killing someone. After a few encounters, Sun Erniang subdues Zhang Qing, and Old Sun allows him to stay in the inn, where Zhang Qing becomes enamored by Sun Erniang's beauty. Through banter and playful teasing, this pair of enemies coexist. Then one day, the court dispatches troops to Liangshan, leading to heightened tensions, and Shizipo becomes a key battleground for the two sides. As the situation escalates, a bloody conflict is imminent. This film is adapted from a story in 'Water Margin,' one of the four great classic novels.
