In the near future, highway riders wreak havoc on the roads, leaving behind traces of insane destruction wherever they go. In order to追 chase the 'Dark Knight' who stole a police car, the police paid a heavy price. Fortunately, there appears a more insane character than the knights, Max (played by Mel Gibson), who forces the Dark Knight to die in a car accident. The Dark Knight's accomplices vow revenge; they descend upon the town to retrieve the Dark Knight's body and abusively torment the weak. After Max and his partner Gus (played by Steve Bisley) capture the murderer, they find no one dares to identify him, leaving them no choice but to let the criminals roam free. Gus is captured by the highway riders and severely injured, while Max's wife Jessie (played by Joanne Samuel) is also intimidated and harassed by them. The 'mad' Max can no longer endure and begins to fight back against the riders...
