During a mountain climbing expedition, Peter's father made the resolute choice to cut the rope in order to ensure Peter's successful rescue, which led to his own death in a fall. Traumatized by this experience, Peter (played by Chris O'Donnell) gives up his climbing career, causing a rift with his sister, who is also a climber. When she encounters danger while attempting to scale the towering K2 peak on the western slopes of the Himalayas, her team becomes trapped in a cave on the summit. With scarce food and medication, their lives hang by a thread. In a race against time and a challenge against the limits of nature, Peter riskily ascends the Himalayas once more to rescue his sister.
