In 1764, Horace Walpole published the first Gothic novel in English literature, "The Castle of Otranto." The novel's mysterious magical elements and the complex plot surrounding Isabella's emotional development captivated countless readers. For a long time, it was believed that the novel was based on a small town in southern Italy; however, Horace Wybourne, who has loved this novel since childhood, was never able to find a castle in Italy that matched the descriptions in the book. By chance, he found a clue in a postcard sent by a friend, which led to a significant discovery at the Otrhany Castle near Nachod in the Czech Republic. The director selected important chapters and plot points from the book, interspersed with photographs and research from Horace's visits to the area, to present the true appearance of that mysterious castle to all the loyal fans of "The Castle of Otranto."
