Roy Custackson (played by Jim Carrey) and his friend Harry Dunne (Jeff Daniels) are a pair of dimwits. Not only do they lack intelligence, but they also struggle to find jobs. One day, Roy gets a temporary job driving the modern girl Mary Swanson (played by Lauren Holly) to the airport. Roy falls in love with Mary at first sight, but their social statuses are worlds apart. After Mary boards her flight, Roy realizes she has left a briefcase in the terminal. To pursue true love, Roy decides to drive to the destination of Mary's flight with Harry; he not only wants to return the briefcase but also to chase after Mary. However, the briefcase seems to be more than it appears, as a gang of robbers is after it and tries to kill Roy and his friends. Yet, Roy's unusual luck helps them avoid disaster in various comical mishaps. Can these two fools reach their destination? Thus begins a silly and joyful journey.
