The fourth season of the Emmy Award-winning series "Hell on Wheels," one of the highest-rated western-themed shows on American television, will return on August 3rd, Beijing time, with an extended season of 13 episodes. This year, it will adopt a special scheduling format: the first part will air from August 3rd to October 5th, followed by a break for the AMC movie segment "AMC FearFest," and then it will return on November 9th to air the remaining three episodes of the second part. After changing producers, adjusting the main plot, and moving to the less competitive Saturday timeslot, the ratings and media reviews for the third season of "Hell on Wheels" improved significantly: the third season had an average live + three-day playback audience of 3.3 million, a 37.5% increase over the second season (2.4 million), and a 10% increase over the first season (3 million), while it helped boost AMC's Saturday prime time ratings by 97% and overall viewership by 152%. The third season of "Hell on Wheels" is the highest-rated season of the series and also the highest rated by critics and editors on Metacritic and AVclub, making it AMC's fifth show with a media rating above 70, following the four-time Emmy Award-winning series "Mad Men," the Emmy Award-winning series "Breaking Bad," the Emmy Award-winning series "The Walking Dead," and the Emmy-nominated series "The Killing." It is also the first AMC show to be ordered for 13 episodes after "The Killing."
