Senior Inspector He Shangsheng (played by Liu Qingyun) is called to the crime scene by the kidnapper Yi Jian (played by Zheng Yijian) to negotiate as a hostage. Seeing Yi Jian's arrogance at the scene, He Shangsheng is eager to take him down, but he escapes. This setback ignites He Shangsheng's fighting spirit and curiosity, leading him to engage in a 'ransom game' with Yi Jian. He Shangsheng receives several remnants of artwork sent by Yi Jian, and with the help of Interpol officer Ruby (played by Huang Zhuoling), discovers that the damaged art pieces are all insured by the same international insurance company. He suspects that Yi Jian intends to extort this insurance company, and therefore goes to investigate. At that moment, Yi Jian happens to call high-ranking company executive Teresa (played by Lin Xilei) to demand a ransom of ten million. Shangsheng immediately takes over the case, only to find that things are far from simple.
