The rookie intern doctors in 'Code Blue' are no longer in a state of confusion like when they first arrived; each of them has made considerable growth and changes, but also deepened their confusions. Banze (played by Tomoharu Yamashita) is troubled by family issues; Shirashi (played by Yu Aoi) seems to have become confident, yet still feels guilty about being involved with Dr. Kuroda (played by Toshirō Yanagiba); Hiyama (played by Eriko Todoh) bears scars from a previous rescue accident and fears surgery; Teng Chuan (played by Rikiya Koyama) remains the most ordinary among them; and nurse Saejima (played by Ai Matsumoto) faces the life-and-death separation from her ailing boyfriend. Replacing Kuroda in the hospital is the newly transferred doctor, Kiki Fujin (played by Kiichi Nakai), who has a completely different style. New challenges come one after another, and whether to stay or leave remains unknown. The second season of 'Code Blue' begins. The previous season focused on their individual growth, while the second season discusses more about the doctor-patient relationship, as they face numerous life-and-death situations and powerlessness, questioning whether their initial intentions to become doctors can withstand the harsh realities, and gaining a new understanding of the term 'doctor'.
