After the world has been almost completely submerged and polluted by environmental disasters, only a small portion of humanity managed to escape to the space colony Kepler to seek redemption. After spending years in space, Kepler faces a threat to humanity as space radiation triggers a human infertility crisis. To address this crisis, a manned mission led by elite astronaut Blake is dispatched to explore the possibility of Earth being habitable again and whether humanity still has any hope of continuation. Upon returning to Earth, Blake is shocked to discover that a group of surviving humans called the Muddies has continued to live on the abandoned Earth, managing to survive in the harsh environment. As she tries to connect with her people on Kepler, Earth begins to change again...
