The DC animated film, adapted from 'Gotham by Gaslight', 'Batman: Gotham by Gaslight' is the first work in DC's 'Elseworlds' series, which also includes 'Batman's West'. Set against the backdrop of 'Sherlock Holmes', 'Batman: Gotham by Gaslight' is placed in the 19th century, featuring the wealthy Bruce Wayne and his butler Alfred. Batman's biggest opponent is the infamous 'Jack the Ripper', who strikes fear into the London police. Like the original comic, this adaptation tells the story of Batman tracking down 'Jack the Ripper' in a setting filled with steampunk elements.
