The little-known officer Sun Dasheng (played by Wang Qianyuan) has lived and died on the front lines of criminal investigations. On an ordinary day, he suddenly hears that his acquaintance, auto mechanic Zhao Yongqiang, has committed suicide by jumping off a building. Zhao Yongqiang had previously rented a house marked for demolition, but in one night, the house was forcibly demolished, and he and his son were not only evicted but also lost their prepaid rent.
