Clyde Shelton (played by Gerard Butler) is a researcher living in a small town in Philadelphia, with a beautiful wife and a lovely daughter, leading a happy and fulfilling life. But everything is destroyed by an unexpected disaster. One night, two thugs break into his home, and both his wife and daughter are brutally harmed. However, despite the solid evidence, due to the tedious judicial process and the corruption of Assistant District Attorney Nick Rice (played by Jamie Foxx), the main culprit, Clarence Darcy (played by Christian Stolte), ultimately receives only a 10-year sentence due to insufficient evidence. Just when Clyde thought everything had calmed down, the unresolved turmoil resurfaces ten years later.
