More than a decade after the Black Ships incident, the closed-off Tokugawa shogunate is迎接 a dramatic moment of change. A surge of anti-shogunate warriors rises, while the shogunate increases its internal conflicts, leading to upheaval across the land. The young swordsman Himura Kenshin (played by Satoh Takeru) joins the anti-shogunate forces under the leadership of Katsura Kogoro (played by Takahashi Issei) to usher in a new era of freedom for the people, gradually becoming a vanguard in eliminating those who obstruct the anti-shogunate movement. The infamous reputation of the 'Battousai the Manslayer' spread throughout Kyoto, but a lower-ranking samurai that he accidentally killed left a lasting scar on his cheek. Soon after, Kenshin encounters the melancholic and silent girl Yukishiro Tomoe (played by Arimura Kasumi).
