Dōrin University School of Medicine fourth-year student Jadi Daiki (played by Eita) failed to enter the "Cardiac Surgery Research Group" as he hoped, and was instead internally transferred by forensic professor Sagawa Fumihiko (played by Saburo Tokitō) to the "Forensic Research Group," a less popular group. Fumihiko valued Daiki's inquisitive nature of always asking why, believing he could give a final voice to the deceased. Initially, Daiki could not accept this. Joining the forensic group are his old friend, Ishimo Reika (played by Toma Ikuta), who is preparing to take over the family hospital, the top student Kubo Akikana (played by Satomi Ishihara), who specifically requested the transfer due to lingering doubts about her mother’s death, as well as Kirihata Teppei (played by Yūya Endō) and Hanei Akira (played by Tomohiro Sato). These five young people use their abilities to unravel the causes of death and to listen to the last words left by those who have departed.
