The story tells the coming-of-age tales of five young boys and girls. Chen Xun grew up with his good friends Zhao Ye and Qiao Ran; the three boys squander their youth to the fullest, joking around, defying their teachers, and playing street games. Later, they meet Fang Hui and Lin Jia Mo, forming a close-knit group of friends who study and play together. Chen Xun and Fang Hui often study together, while Qiao Ran secretly has a crush on Fang Hui but has never shown it. Zhao Ye also secretly develops an interest in Lin Jia Mo.
