This is an outstanding coming-of-age film directed by the French filmmaker Jean Eustache in 1974, who died young. The film tells the story of a teenage boy coming of age, with a fresh and realistic tone that restores the life and social realities of a small French town in the same period of the last century. It also excellently portrays the confusion and temptations of adolescence through ambiguous depictions of sexuality. As the young protagonist gradually loses his innocence and undergoes change under temptation, it subtly reflects the director's personal expression. I personally think this film is excellent and should be considered one of the best in its genre.
