This original comedy directed by Joël Séria in 1975 is filled with unexpected scenes between men and women. The umbrella salesman Henry Serin (played by Jean-Pierre Marielle) is having sexual relationships with all the women he encounters during his travels, including the one he is painting a portrait of. At one point, while one woman is cooking in the kitchen, he is busy painting. He gets invited over, but when he tries to unfold her traditional ribbons, he is immediately expelled. Henry Serin falls in love with a very young woman whom he tries to seduce while painting her portrait. His only friend is a modernist priest (played by Romain Bouteille), who enjoys chatting with him at a local bar. Henry Serin does not think about tomorrow and lives an "artist's life." Life is good, and sex is life.
