Asphyxiating desire

Death row inmate Zhang Zhen understands that he doesn't have much time left. With his violent and eccentric personality, even though he has chosen and accepted death, he still wants to face it alone. Thus, he attempts to take his own life with a sharp object, but his efforts to hasten death fail, resulting in the loss of his voice and a return to prison. In that cold place, where the scent of death seems ever-present, the only one waiting for him is a small inmate who is fond of him. However, for Zhang Zhen, there is nothing in this world that he is enamored with. Interior designer Yan's life was originally without deficiency, but at the moment she discovered her husband's infidelity, she began to live a life contrary to her previous one. Occasionally, during moments of disappointment, Yan sees news about death row inmate Zhang Zhen on television and develops a strange feeling of pity for him. In search of seeing him, she finds the prison where he is held. Yan shares with Zhang Zhen the moments of death she experienced in her childhood, and for some unknown reason, her previously closed heart slowly begins to open to this stranger she has never met before. Originally, there was no overlap between Zhang Zhen and Yan's lives. Where will this kind of encounter lead them both? Yan ponders what she can do for Zhang Zhen, who is about to leave this world, and decides to send him gifts throughout the year. Once only thinking of death, Zhang Zhen finds warmth in life again with Yan's presence. After a series of meetings, the two develop a bond that goes beyond that of ordinary friends, but Yan's husband notices their unusual relationship and begins to obstruct their affection.
