The story takes place in the summer of 1939, where Clem (played by Walter Pidgeon) and his wife Mrs. Miniver (played by Greer Garson) live in the English countryside. They have been married for many years and have three children, leading a happy and fulfilling life. Clem's eldest son Wayne (played by Richard Ney) falls in love with Belle (played by Teresa Wright), the granddaughter of the flower club's founder, and the two quickly become an item. War begins, and Wayne wants to pledge allegiance to his country, heading to the front lines, while Clem and Mrs. Miniver provide support from the rear. One day, a wounded German pilot breaks into Mrs. Miniver's backyard, and she bravely and wisely helps the police capture him. On their way to send Wayne to his station, Mrs. Miniver and Miss Belle encounter an air raid, and the situation seems dire.
