This drama is adapted from the novel "Protecting the Heart" by Jiu Lu Fei Xiang. The story tells of the millennium spirit dragon Tian Yao (played by Hou Ming Hao), who is betrayed by his beloved, Su Ying, on his wedding day, causing him to suffer excruciating pain. The power of the five elements seals his dragon body in various places, and one of the scattered heart-protecting scales unexpectedly falls into the possession of the Xuanmen cultivator Yan Huai (played by Zhou Ye), who has a defect in her innate heart. Her heart, bearing his heart-protecting scale, carries dragon blood, allowing her to help him break the seal. Thus, Tian Yao begins to use Yan Huai, and a sweet yet painful destiny intertwines between the honest spirit dragon and the mischievous girl. Together, they experience numerous trials and work together to reclaim his dragon form.
