During the Qing Dynasty, both Shaolin and Wudang had many masters. Shaolin aspired to restore the Ming Dynasty and oppose the Qing, while the Wudang sect was willing to act as the Qing's enforcers. Consequently, the two sects found themselves in a hostile situation. The flag-bearing youth Tong Qianjin, having been an orphan since childhood and enduring bullying from his own clan, harbored a deep resentment towards his kin and dedicated himself to martial arts at Shaolin Temple. He organized fellow disciples including Hu Huiqian to engage in anti-Qing and pro-Ming activities. Wudang masters, in response to the Shaolin disciples, sent their own members down the mountain in waves to confront Tong, leading to a series of battles.
