37-year-old office worker Hiroshi Kawaguchi is a bulky, unremarkable otaku. After work, he rarely drinks or dines with colleagues; more often, he returns to his little home to chat with the hundreds of dolls he painstakingly collects. He buys beautiful clothes for the dolls and feels exceedingly satisfied with it. When night falls and all is quiet, the dolls chat happily, seemingly indifferent to their owner. One evening, on his way home, Hiroshi comes across a doll that has been discarded. He takes the doll home, meticulously repairs it, and places it in his collection room. To his surprise, the doll is actually a beautiful girl named Catherine, sealed away by an evil magician 100 years ago.
