This is a documentary-style film that vividly reflects the last 12 days of Hitler's life and the final days of the Third Reich. The Soviet Red Army has already invaded Berlin, and Hitler (played by Bruno Ganz) and his mistress Eva (played by Juliane Köhler) have taken refuge in a bunker. Eva knows she has come to accompany Hitler to the afterlife, but she does not regret it. Even after she is denied by Hitler when pleading for her brother-in-law, she organizes one last wedding with him. Hitler's loyal follower Goebbels (played by Ulrich Matthes) is determined to accompany the Führer in death along with his entire family. He has seven children, and he and his wife are resolute in not allowing their children to grow up under a sky without the empire. After Hitler and Eva commit suicide, they also take their own lives, which is quite poignant. The true history is reenacted through the lens, scene by scene.
