The film primarily tells the story set in the early Ming Dynasty, where ghost soldiers reappear. The Jinyiwei officer Xu Li (played by Lin Fengsong) is dispatched by a prince to the Hanshan Temple to investigate the strange phenomenon of the Yin Tiger Talisman. During his quest for the truth, he meets the girl You Tan (played by Liao Huijia) from the Jialan tribe and the abbot Xiang San of Hanshan Temple. Together, they engage in a battle of wits and bravery against the forces of the Japanese demon Rintaro, leading to a series of bizarre and fantastical events.
