Many years ago, the Queen of Atlantis (played by Nicole Kidman) fell in love with a human and together they gave birth to the fruit of their love – later known to land dwellers as Aquaman, Arthur Curry (played by Jason Momoa). During his upbringing, Arthur underwent rigorous training under the underwater mentor Nudis (played by Willem Dafoe), always yearning to visit his mother, but as a mixed-blood illegitimate son, this was a luxury he could not afford. Meanwhile, Arthur's half-brother Orm (played by Patrick Wilson) became the king of Atlantis. Unhappy with the pollution and destruction caused by land dwellers to the ocean, he plotted to unite other underwater kingdoms to wage a full-scale war against the land. To stop his ambitions, Nudis and Orm's fiancée Mera (played by Amber Heard) brought Arthur to the underwater world. Destiny drives Arthur to seek the long-lost trident and establish a more enlightened underwater kingdom.
