The male lead Dylan (played by Michiel Huisman) has a strict routine and an innate ability to sense patterns. One afternoon at 2:22 PM, Dylan Branson, an air traffic controller, is paralyzed by a mysterious light, which almost causes a plane he is directing to crash. From then on, he feels this light every day and gradually realizes he is caught in a kind of loop. By chance, Dylan meets Sarah (played by Teresa Palmer), with whom he falls in love at first sight. They are surprised to discover that Sarah was a passenger on the flight that Dylan nearly mishandled, and coincidentally, they were born on the same day, month, and year. As they get to know each other better, the coincidences between Dylan and Sarah increase, and recurring hallucinations and events link their fates to a murder case that occurred thirty years ago at New York's Grand Central Station. Dylan continues to investigate the mystery behind '2:22', discovering that the murder case from thirty years ago is about to replay.
