 Synopsis
Juliet Grant (Patricia Clarkson) flies from Canada to Cairo, Egypt to vacation with her husband Mark (Tom McCamus), who she rarely sees. However, upon arriving, she is informed that due to the newly erupted armed conflict in the Gaza Strip, her husband, who works for the UN refugee camp management, cannot leave temporarily. Mark's former security officer, Tarek (Alexander Siddig), takes care of Juliet. At an embassy party, Juliet meets a young woman named Catherine (Elena Anaya) who is in a similar situation. The two explore the White Desert together, where Catherine shares her past love story with an Egyptian man. Later, Tarek shows Juliet the beautiful scenery of Cairo, and Juliet finds herself developing feelings for him through their continuous interaction. The subtle emotions leave Juliet feeling incredibly sad... The film won the Best Canadian Film Award at the Toronto International Film Festival.
