David (Woody Harrelson) and Diana (Demi Moore) are a couple with a strong relationship. Both are successful in their careers and live happily, but the arrival of an economic recession causes their work to deteriorate, making it difficult for them to even maintain their housing. Unwilling to accept defeat, they decide to take a gamble in Las Vegas. Initially, they have great luck, but soon they lose all their money. At this point, an older, handsome millionaire named Gage (Robert Redford) offers to help them, but with the condition that he pays $1 million to spend one night with Diana. Eventually, the temptation of money overcomes everything, and the couple signs an agreement to engage in this scandalous deal. They return home and agree never to mention it again, but contrary to their intentions, cracks begin to appear in their relationship.
