Retired professor Charles (Ted Danson) feels nothing new in life.A year after his wife's death, he fell into daily chores and his relationship with his daughter Emily (played by Mary Elizabeth Ellis).However, when he sees a classified ad released by private detective Julie (Lila Richcreek Estrada), he is inspired to decide to take a gamble and embark on a new adventure.Charles' mission is to sneak into the Pacific Scenic Nursing Home in San Francisco and solve the mystery of a heirloom being stolen.Everyone is a potential suspect, whether it is a resident or a staff member, and Charles must solve the case without being discovered by Didi (Stephanie Beatrix), the omniscient supervisor of Taiping Scenic Nursing Home.However, it is not easy to keep a low profile, as the amiable Charles quickly won the favor of the people living together.As an "undercover old gentleman", Charles embarked on an exciting journey that made him realize that there is still much to look forward to in life, and also reconnected with Emily.The "Undercover Old Gentleman" brought by creator Michael Shure is adapted from the documentary "Detective Competition" which was nominated for the 2021 Oscar for Best Documentary.
