The treacherous minister Qin Quan (played by Gu Feng) is suffering from a deadly disease and is on the brink of death. He orders his chief bodyguard Si Ma Jun (played by Luo Lie) to go to the herbalist to get a longevity vine to treat his illness. The herbalist knows that Qin Quan intends to use it and firmly refuses. Left with no choice, Si Ma Jun kills the herbalist and steals the treasure box containing the longevity vine. Si Ma Jun's apprentice Tie Erlang (played by Liu Yong), in a fit of righteous anger, looks for an opportunity to steal the longevity vine. Si Ma Jun, in furious retaliation, kills Tie Erlang's mother, but still cannot find the longevity vine. Upon seeing his mother killed, Erlang is heartbroken and, together with the herbalist's daughter Tan Li (played by Yan Nanxi), engages in a life-and-death battle against Si Ma Jun.
