Laughing (played by Xie Tianhua) believes he is an undercover agent for the police, but due to a drug case involving Zheng Yi Zong, he is being pursued by Inspector Pan (played by Huang Rihua). In fact, before joining the police force, Laughing was already a member of a gang, working under his boss, Brother Yi (played by Huang Qiusheng). Brother Yi takes good care of Laughing, who regards him as a brother. In order to protect his territory and illegal business, Brother Yi even asks Laughing to apply to the police force so that he can keep track of police actions. Laughing excels in police academy, but unfortunately, fate has other plans; he never gets the chance to stay in the police force because anti-organized crime Inspector Xian (played by Yuan Biao) is drawn to his gang affiliations and appoints him as an undercover agent. Thus, Laughing becomes a "double agent," and Brother Yi is pleased to have Laughing integrated into the gang to deal with his own rival (played by Wu Zhenyu). In this already complicated situation, Laughing's circumstances become even more complicated when he falls in love with the rival's sister, Karen (played by Chen Fala). Faced with choices of law, loyalty, and affection, how will Laughing manage himself? Regardless of which side he chooses, it will be an act of betrayal—ultimately, to which side will Laughing lean?
