This film is adapted from the 1997 novel of the same name by Austrian mystery novelist Wolf Haas. Former Austrian detective Simon Brenner (played by Josef Hader) is assigned by his boss Bedi (played by Simon Schwartz) to a country inn to find a painter debtor named Hewatt and retrieve a yellow Volkswagen Beetle. The inn's owner (played by Josef Bierbichler), his daughter-in-law Brigitte (played by Brigit Minichmayr), and waitress Alex (played by Pia Hierzegger) all treat Brenner coldly. However, the owner's son, Poli (played by Christoph Luser), secretly approaches Brenner to investigate his father in an attempt to recover 130,000 euros that he embezzled. Brenner, who initially doesn’t want to get involved in the hotel owner's family disputes, finds himself falling for Brigitte. Ignoring Bedi's urging, Brenner repeatedly delays his return... The film won the third place Audience Award in the Panorama section at the 2009 Berlin Film Festival.
