Zoe Davis and Nick Ventry view each other as siblings. They are the owners and operators of Belle Weddings, a successful wedding planning company in Portland, Oregon. Both are feeling disappointed and burnt out with the state of the company, feeling like they have become a group of wealthy and demanding 'bride's maids' rather than fulfilling their original intention of creating unforgettable weddings for loving couples. Although Zoe wants to take a break to recharge, she decides to take a short hiatus and return to her hometown of Romance, Oregon, a two-hour drive away. At this time, she learns from her mother, Celeste Davis, that Zoe's father, Richard Davis, has broken his leg, leading to a staffing shortage at their café, Celeste's Place. After returning home, Zoe finds that Celeste has already hired Zoe's ex-boyfriend, Will Mason, to help out. Will has just returned to Romance after living and working in Seattle for a while.
