The movie 'The Southern Fist Master' is based on the legendary master Liu Yamei. Liu Yamei, originally named Liu Yuanbo, was born during the Qing Dynasty's Xianfeng period. In his youth, he moved to Gongping Market from Dongbangtang Village in Haifeng County with his uncle to make a living. Initially, he worked as a porter at the docks and witnessed numerous acts of inequality, which determined him to learn martial arts to strengthen himself and fight for justice. Historically, he studied under the famous boxer Cai Jun and later integrated both internal and external martial arts, creating the unique 'Tuanhu' boxing style. He became a representative figure of the 'Zhu family teaching' through his relentless pursuit of refinement in his craft. Ultimately, he emerged as one of the three major leaders of Southern Fist in the 1920s and 30s. According to the film's producers, the movie primarily focuses on 'Liu Yamei's' story of fulfilling his master's dying wish by fighting against opium and upholding justice.
