The former head of the Special Investigation Team (SIT) of the Metropolitan Police Department, Yukiko Makabe (played by Yuki Amami), faces criticism from her peers due to her female identity and straightforward style. She is subsequently reassigned by the Minister of Justice, Masanao Nagahara (played by Masao Kusakari), to the newly established urgent case interrogation unit in the first investigative division, which is led by Katsutaka Kajiyama (played by Tetsuji Tanaka), alongside three older detectives: Susumu Hishimoto (played by Tententen), Yoshijiro Nakada (played by Ren Osugi), and Haruo Koishikawa (played by Fumiyuki Komiyama).
