 Synopsis
The "Sissi" film series includes three films: "Sissi," "The Young Empress," and "The Emperor's Destiny." As the first film in the series, it tells the story of Princess Sissi (played by Romy Schneider) who meets and falls in love with Emperor Franz Joseph of Austria (played by Karlheinz Böhm). Born into a noble family in Bavaria, Sissi is stunningly beautiful and lively. Her aunt Sophie plans to arrange a marriage between her son, Franz, the heir to the Austrian throne, and Sissi's sister Helen at his birthday celebration. Accompanied by her mother and sister, Sissi attends the celebration in Austria but sneaks out to go fishing, where she unexpectedly meets the handsome Emperor Franz. Sissi's charming smile deeply impacts Franz, leading him to fall completely in love with the innocent and pure-hearted Sissi, defying his mother Sophie's wishes to announce at the birthday celebration that Sissi is indeed his empress. Although the lovers end up together, their romantic and innocent love is just beginning to face challenges.
