 Synopsis
In 1928, Los Angeles, USA, Christine Collins (played by Angelina Jolie) works at a telephone exchange and raises her son Walter (played by Gattlin Griffith) alone. Their lives are simple and happy. However, their life is soon disrupted when one day after work, Christine discovers that her son is missing. Under public pressure, the corrupt Los Angeles police find Walter after five months, but Christine realizes he is not her biological son. She repeatedly demands the police to clarify the truth and help her find the real Walter, but she faces obstruction and blame, and is even sent to a mental institution on charges of obstructing justice. Pastor Gustav Brieglab (played by John Malkovich), who is dedicated to exposing police brutality, speaks out for this unfortunate woman's plight. Meanwhile, Detective Lester (played by Michael Kelly), while investigating a smuggling case, inadvertently uncovers a major serial child murder case. The disappearance of the boy Walter seems to begin revealing clues.
