The story begins in 2001 in Datong, Shanxi, where Qiao Qiao (played by Zhao Tao) and Bin Bin (played by Liao Fan) have been in love for many years. Qiao Qiao hopes to settle down and live a stable life with Bin Bin, but as a local boss, Bin Bin has his own lofty ambitions. In an unexpected event, Bin Bin is set up and is in imminent danger. Qiao Qiao takes a gun secretly kept by Bin Bin and bravely comes to his rescue, but she is sentenced to five years in prison for illegal possession of a firearm.Five years pass in the blink of an eye.
